🍓 5:45pm eGALitarian Brass

eGALitarian Brass Band is an all female brass group dedicated to inspiring and impacting the lives of women in our New York City community. eGALitarian originally began several years ago as a classical brass quintet and since our inception, we have performed in various settings such as recitals, galas, church services, and fundraising events. As a brass band with drums, eGALitarian’s repertoire is pop, jazz, new orleans, and latin tunes. eGALitarian is co-led by trumpeter Kate Amrine and tuba player Caitlin Jodoin.

Quenia Ribeiro is a dancer, choreographer and dance instructor from Rio de Janeiro Brazil with over 25 years of experience in Samba and Afro-Brazilian dance. She has been featured in interviews and performances broadcast on PBS, ABC, WPIX, Telemundo and CBS Television. As a dance instructor she has been teaching and conducting workshops for Samba and Afro Brazilian Dance in NYC since 1997.

HONK NYC is proud to announce our new music + spectacle project, The HONK Family Band, led by our music director, Elijah J. Thomas. The HONK Family Band is a collective expression of movement, music, and mayhem, allowing us to further our mission of connecting communities through music-making, pageantry, audience participation, and education.

We invite you to play with us!
Bring your instrument, your prop, your costume.
Bring your smile, your heart, your creativity.
We ask you to make with us a carnival that is a pure expression of community.

More rehearsal dates & opportunities in July, August, and in the Fall, leading up to our 16th annual HONK NYC! Street Band Spectacular!
